About the Studio

We are a boutique studio dedicated to preserving and celebrating Australia’s visual history — restoring, individually colourising, and printing photographs from the country’s harbours, beaches, streetscapes and skies.

Our passion lies in restoring historic black-and-white photographs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Through meticulous restoration and individual colourisation, we bring the detail of historic streets, coastlines and landmarks into vibrant focus while preserving the authentic soul of the original capture — then produce each one as a print built to last.

Meet the Artist

Every restoration is individually crafted by Andrew Booth, a dedicated digital artist and photographer. Using modern restoration tools alongside careful historical research — and his own aerial and location photography — Andrew cleans dirt, scratches and chemical decay from archival images, then builds up custom colour layers to reveal textures as they originally looked under the Australian sun.

Out-of-Copyright Archive Sources

The historical photographs in our collection are sourced from national archives, library records and the public domain. Due to their age, the original images are out of copyright — historical treasures that belong to everyone. We hold ourselves to high historical accuracy, checking old maps, descriptions and records to render colours that honour the original scenes.

Prints, Made to Order

Each image is produced to order as a museum-quality print — on premium canvas or archival fine-art paper — carefully packed and posted to your door across Australia. The result is a piece built to hang and to last, not a digital file.
